Forgot to mention i used diluted traffic film remover for the job, its very heavy duty. Its great for wheels, getting rid of dead flies and the only chemical i find that removes dried on veg oil with ease/

WD40 is quite good at removing that sort of thing from paintwork. Then all you have to do is find something that will take the WD40 off.

Wax/polish... but still leaves it a little smeary. Good for engine bays, let it soak then wipe it away, gives a nice effect and some water repellance too.

I had to wash my whole car with WD40 after an unfortunate incident with the windscreen washers. I used hot soapy water to clean the WD40 off and meant to follow this up with T Cut and polish but never got around to it. It seems to look OK now.

I usually let mine get really bad.. oil covered mud gets very tough..

petrol on rag does no harm, car can be washed normally after that, at least it seems to be ok after 6 months...

I know this should probably be in the for sale section, but

Ive got just over 100 litres in the garage left over from when I sold my Xantia a couple of weeks ago, any takers at 50 pence per litre ? I'm in Tewkesbury in gloucestershire.

Cheers

Tim
