S reg saxo 1.1 wont start

Post by citronut »

the car sales next to my workshop have a 1.1 saxo Rreg was startting, now we think as the battery went flat it upset the imobaliser, now it crancks over but dont fire up, and there is a light on on the dash which is an amber/yellow square with a picy of a key in it, we have tried disconectting the battery for 20 minns but made no diferance, this warning lamp is flashing all the time the ignition is on

Fit a new immobiliser aerial - only about £15 or something, and a well known weak point on Saxos of this age. If that doesn't cure it, then you may have to take it to the dealer, but got be worth a £15 / 1/2 hour punt!

The flashing key light does show the immobiliser isn't receiving the signal from the small chip inside the key so it could be the immobiliser itself or the chip has fallen out of the key (has known to happen)
Easy to see if it's in the key though as it's near the base of the metal part of the key, a very small square about 5mm.
Good luck.
