You can get the o ring seal from Citroen for this - it actually not totally
stupid money either. If I were you I'd give the car an LHM fluid
hydraflush to expell all the built up crap and potentially contaminated
fluid. It's cheap enough to buy from GSF although you'll also need 3-4
litres of good replacement 'full fat' LHm when it's due to revert back!!

At the end of the day, the jobs/checks you're doing are the fiddly time
consuming things you'd want to do for yourself for better piece of mind
after purchasing any car 2 or 20 years old!! Check the pads/discs/tyres
too so you know where you stand!! For the price of a new mountain bike
with some kind of suspension, you've bought one of the best second hand
bargains available with superb ride/handling/ecomomy and build quality,
and it'll not be a rust trap for a good while yet - just anti rust and paint
protect that rear subframe when you're not doing something else!!

Thanks andmcit,I've ordered the hydraflush and lhm.
When I looked in the lhm tank the white filters are black so I'll be syphoning out the old and changing all the clips on the tank as well.

Cheers.

It's just occured to me that items 4-7 might be connected - is the front ride height correct, or did he test it on 'low'

The front does eventually go to the right height.
I don't know whether he tested it in the low position but if you saw my other thread about my Temptation 2 estate he referred to the height corrector as the Brake Compensator so anything is possible.

I'm thinking it's coolant....which might not make your £400 seem so attractive....
Hmmm,after taking the the
LHM tank off and having a look at where the pipes travel along the bulkhead I can't see where any LHM would have seeped in.
Would the air con work as icily as it does if the matrix was fecked?

Looks like your MOT tester doesn't know his Cits.

I'm surprised he figured out the handbrake was on the front.

Bri.
Air con would work fine.

If they had disconnected the matrix (common bodge for a burst matrix) then you would get no heat but the aircon would be fine.

If it's LHM then it would be pretty distinctive, by it's smell and being very slippy between the fingers. Unless it's really old.

And those rear spheres, I've never seen any that bad on any of the Xantias or BX's I've had, and some of my BX's were pretty ropey. It may be he paid for them doing but I don't think they've ever been off.

I did not mean you were laughing at me Jim, I was thanking for the link to the correct posting (and shame on me as I've got the postings mixed up) - and that you found my taste a good joke, or was it my joke as good taste, or that Citroens are good taste, or you learn good taste by ... ?

Sorry about that Anders when I made that post about the oil and filters I must have hit New Topic instead of Reply then when I looked in this thread and didn't see it I posted it here if you get my drift.
Anyway I've replaced all 3 Spheres on the front of the car and filled with LHM.
When I turned the car on it wouldn't rise and I left the car running for 20 minutes.....
Everything's fine now but guess what I forgot to do,go on guess........
