It does on mine and many others, very snug fit it is too!Mandrake wrote:In fact I wonder if a 205/60/15 would even fit in the spare wheel carrier of a Xantia ? I've uprated my tyres on the Mk1 estate. I was having problems that the 185s I brought used to get damaged and bulgey. I had no reason for them doing so but I had 3 or 4 tyres do it. In the end I assumed they were under too much stress from the weight of the car and my driving!
Unsure of whether 205s would fit, I opted for 195/60s on my 15" steel rims. The fit is fine and the extra width is a noticeably better grip. These tyres have lasted too - no uneven wear or bulges or bald patches.

Pug Rifter long (20) - 41mpg - Gutsy for a 1.5!
Xantia 1.9 TD Temp.2 Break (97) - 208K@42mpg - Resting again.
Berlingo Multispace 1.6 16v (51) - 184K@36mpg - My shed! Still runs 15° retarded...

Dave.
After spending a while to source a set with a very good wet grip reputation I was so close to doing the 195/60 upgrade like you. I looked at online tyre size calculators to see often a 1965/60x15 is actually closer to the rolling radius of the original tyre than the other standard fittment of 205/60x15.
Eventully the tyres I chose were immediately available in 185/65 but not 195/60 so I kept to the spec size. Went for a set of Bridgestone Turanza ER300's in the end. Being fitted on Monday so look forward to wet road tests in a few days.
Cheers,
David
