CO kills you by bonding with haemaglobin like oxygen does, but it doesn't get re-released, so it builds up in your system, preventing your blood carrying oxygen.
Eventually the CO carrying red blood cells are broken down and replaced by new ones.

height adjustment

ok guys the general opinion is a height corrector problem rather than adjustment do i presume that you all mean the linkage or adjuster mechanism is seized rather than the adjuster itself bieng at fault and a good clean and grease will hopefully cure it yes?

Hi Jeremy,

Easy to explain - the height corrector linkage is only designed to operate over a certain amount of travel - that is, the spring that goes between the height corrector itself and the plastic link rod can only move so much.

When the rollbar is connected to one or both struts the movement range of the strut constrains the angle over which the rollbar can rotate to a safe range, disconnect BOTH ends of the rollbar at once, and now the rollbar can turn over an excessive range of angles, and there is plenty of leverage on the ends of the rollbar to do this without even feeling the strain that is being put on the height corrector linkage.

If that happens - something has to give. The most likely things are:

(a) The clamp slips on the rollbar - no damage is done but the height needs resetting.

(b) The plastic link pops off - possibly no damage done, (just pop it back on) or at worst you might need to replace the plastic link.

(c) The small rod from the rollbar clamp to the plastic link bends or shears off.

The spring unit itself, and the limit stops in the height corrector are probably tough enough to withstand the mistreatment.

The simplest way to avoid the problem is if possible, only disconnect one rollbar droplink at a time... or if you can't, loosen the height corrector clamp before doing so and then no harm will be done. (But the height will need resetting afterwards)

I'd be checking to see the plastic link is intact, and checking for signs of bending of the linkrod from the clamp, if all looks ok just go through a height adjustment procedure and see what happens.

Simon

metgreentd wrote:i am adjusting the ride height because i have replaced all the bushes and ball joints etc at the front and stupidly disconected both the roll bar drop links at the same time which i am told is a no no and will upset the ride height which lo and behold on reassembly the car is now rather high at the front.i have checked the linkages for any bent or misaligned bits as the local specialist told me to do but can find no such problems.the car rises and falls as it should on the lever and the adjuster does not seem to be stuck.i have been told as a rule of thumb the distance between the wheel and arch should be four fingers mine is about 8.the car will be on the ramp in a few days so will have a proper look.thanks
Hi,

No need for rule of thumb! See the following:

http://homepages.igrin.co.nz/simon/imag ... ia_height/

The ride height is quite critical for best ride and handling, the spec is +7 / -10mm, so it's worth going to the trouble of getting it right.

See my other post for what might have gone wrong when the rollbar was disconnected at both ends...if nothing seems bent its probably just the clamp that slipped on the rollbar. :)
