Radically improved Xantia TD performance!

Post by andmcit »

Yeah, heard about all these fantastic devices you can plug into your Xantia
to make it go better!?

How about a working accelerator cable!! I didn't realise the one on my
estate was so rubbish although I knew the actual car itself was a lot more
lethargic compared to another identical one I run too. Anyhow, the damned
cable inner snapped as I was bowling down the slip road onto the M4
motorway on the weekend giving me 'some' cause for concern!!

I managed to drag the inner braiding still attached to the diesel pump from
the outer and tied the throttle lever to about 2k revs which then allowed
me to limp the car to safety but rather slowly and at massive levels of stress!

This morning after fitment of a new SH one combined with new glow plugs
and leak off pipes the car is transformed!!

Worth checking yours!

Whenever I buy a new second hand diesel car, the throttle cable is one of the first things I check. Usually it is not tightened enough, so that when you put your foot right down, the pump is not on full power. I usually have to adjust this.

Tightening the throttle cable is something that seems to overlooked, I've always had to do them on virtually every car I've owned even if they've had full service histories.
