Activa alloys on a Xantia HDi

Post by njr »

As the Activa and the Td have finally both died :( and I recently put new Michelin tyres on the Activa I thought I would keep the alloys for the HDi when it needs new tyres.

Is there any reason this is a bad idea, The tyre size is the same.

I ran with the wheels off my Activa on my C5 for a while. My C5 alloys were on my Activa while I did this.

I was trying something with the tyre pressure sensors on the C5.. to see what the computer would do if it saw no sensors at all.

The bottom line is that the Activa Alloys fitted perfectly to the C5 and so should look great on your Hdi.

The time has come to change over the wheels and before I do I thought I would just check that the wheels nuts are the same size for the HDi and Activa.

Anyone know

I'm currently running activa alloys on the rear of my 2.1TD and 1.9TD steels on the front.
Swapped them over with the 1.9 because the nearside activa alloy has a bulge on the tyre wall.
No problems.
I must get the activa alloy tyres renewed as soon as I can though!

The bolts are m10 thread 1.25 pitch with a square edged shoulder to the
head of the bolt on the Activa alloy wheel bolts compared to the standard
saloons' 60 degree tapered head bolts with their deep head. I believe you
can't use the bolts in either alternate direction! The Activa alloys use the
same bolts as seen on alloys fitted to a Citroen CX and Pug 205.

Cheers everyone

That makes sense Andrew thanks, I have just been outside trying to get the buggers on and couldnt. Felt like the bolts were a little too short.

Rang Citroen and the bolts are 4.38 each plus VAT  so will have to find some elsewhere. The really annoying thing was when I gave the car to a mate I didnt think to keep the bolts just the wheels. #-o

DOH!

I've just re-read my original post and realised I must have been half alseep!

THE BOLTS ARE M12 NOT M10 AS I SUGGESTED!!

I got the pitch correct at 1.25 RH though!!

Wouldn't happen to be specced with a 16v 2.0i motor and run wheeltrims?

...see ebay item: 280123089025

Least this one isn't so likely to get chopped up for an engine conversion
- it'll be too heavy for a tweeny Peugeot!!

Must say, something about the interior caught my eye...! :D

The wheel bolts are the same flat shouldered bolts with washers which are found on the 205 and 309 1.9 GTis.

DON'T use the standard angled shouldered bolts as these will:

1. Knacker your alloys
2. Is extremely dangerous, as the bolts have a tendancy to come loose!

You have been warned!
