Intermittent Intermittent Wipers

Post by BrianM »

No, its not a typo - the intermittent function on the wipers of my 97 Xantia doesn't seem to like the cold !. For the past few mornings the intermittent wipe and the wipe when you wash does not work - after a while ( seem especially when I put heat to the footwell) its all back again. I am angling towards it being the intermittent relay being dodgy anyone any thoughts or seen it before ?

Not a problem I have come across, but the stalk switches have been known to fail. Next time it does it give the switch a good workout!

Hi Brian

If its not that could be a poor connection almost anywhere in the circuit, but if it does use a relay that's a good place to start - if you can find it!

The wash/wipe relay is located down near the accelerator pedal if you do go looking for it.

Changed the relay from one of my 'spares' and working fine again. Whoever decided to put the relay in such an awkard place. If anyone needs to know, its the blue one hidden in behind the rest of them held on with a screw.
