The 2 litre 90 and 110 horsepower HDIs aren't multivalve, they are both 8 valve engines, its only the newer 16 valve (1.4 90 bhp, 1.6, 2.0+2.2 136 bhp) that are multivalve. Its true that they have rocker arms though, and vertical valves, so nothing to expensive gets broken if pistons and valves collide, just rocker arms.

I suspect that a 16 valve diesel will make a really big mess of itself when a cambelt snaps, the valves will be inclined to bend and stick because they're inclined rather than vertical, and that means things will break, such as pistons valves and the head.

Pete... I was looking at the Rover 75 D auto as a possible replacement for my ZX when the time comes, but you seen the price of the 2nd hand ones !!!!!! *faints* :oops: lol...
