Peter - has your XM got a FDV - or a 2 outlet pump like the post 94 Xantias?

I have had the hydraulic system behave and then go back to misbehaviour several times, like when changing the accu sphere, or bleeding front brakes.

I believe the brake valve (doseur?????) can't fail or cause the symptoms of my problem, (according to Citroen), so maybe it is the FDV. I spoke to Citroen today who quoted over 200 quid

Should I get alot of fluid squirting from the return pipes on the ABS, Brake or FDV valves?

Can I just confirm..........

The sound I should get from the regulator.

Some times it clicks. Some times it whooshes. By this I mean the sound the pump makes when the car is rising from lowest setting every morning (non anti sink).

Should it do both?

The whooshes vary in length and frequency, and then some times you get a click. This is all while the car is idling at normal height.

I'm just trying to give as much background as possible.
