yes - there are instructions on here somewhere - and then replaced with new seals.

If its suspected - it may be that something gooey round the exposed bit would seal it for temporary diagnostic purposes

i thought the filter was heated by being bolted the the thermostate housing, and the first thing to check for leaks is the leak of tubes, lucas sell it in a kit for just a few quide, but if it dose turn out to be the injector lucas also do these recond and they used to be about 18 squide each +vat

Hi Malc,

Is there any contact info for lucas at all??

Im just going to check the injectors are tightened on correctly incase they have worked a little loose since the rebuild but i think its the return line or something on the 2nd injector(from the cambelt end so probably the 3rd injector)

The reason i ask about the thermostat for the oil filter housing is if i can heat the oil up quicker then it will be better for my engine running thru winter as the oil thickens up and becomes harder for the pump to suck thru unless i dilute it with bio-diesel or pump diesel...

The closest thing i can find on yell.com is a diesel specialist in warrington :(

Ive had a good look and poke around and the only things i can see now weeping are the return pipe from the 4th injector(cambelt end) to pump, 3rd-4th return fuel line and the plug on the 1st injector.

All seem to be weeping a tiny amount which im guessing is possibly causing my lumpy idle as well. propbably take about an hour to do them and the filter housing, sent a few messages but none replied to about used ones so may nip down scrappy on friday and get one or on saturday if i can be bothered as the filter housing isnt urgent but easier to do at the same time i guess :)

Try typing in Lucas Services Uk Ltd and a large town near you into google - and you should find one nearest you. Leakof pipes are commonly stocked on a roll in small motor spares shops - as are the end caps. Only the Bosch pump is prone to air problems from the leakoff pipes - Roto-diesels (lucas, CAV) just leak and smell.

Tried doing that but not much seems to come up other than a lot of garble even when filtering the search :(

Tried yell and found a local diesel injection specialist that ill give a buzz tomorrow.
Should they be clipped on or should the fitting be tight enough on its own?
Am i best to take off the ones i have that are duff and take them in and say these are the ones i need and then they can just make them up there and then and i can get the hole lot done as i may as well do them all i feel, saves the others going at another point for the sake of another few quid and the work involved?

grr very annoying as one of them has got much worse now, probably due to me cleaning the pipe and making the crack in the rubber worse under the sheath :(

Thanks again guys :)

The leakoff pipes are rubber like fuel tubing, can be cut with wire cutters or strong scissors or a craft knife or similar, and just push on. They harden with age (like 10 years). If you are not happy about doing the job then leave it to a specialist - but any mechanic should be able to do this job - its not a specialist job.

Ill just buy a 1metre length tomorrow then and chop it on and hopefully fix the thing, then i can look forward tousing some fairy liquid or degunk to get the fuel off from around the injectors before it does any damage or any more danger, dont fancy the engine getting too hot with that stuff on there even though its just SVO...

It'll probably evaporate before you can get at it - certainly I've had a couple of these pipes let go on the ZX and it just leaves a dry but dark trace on the block.

I only use legal fuel which may evaporate better than veg oil.

I was about to say the only thing not making it legal is lack of a filled in EX103 which im waiting for still from C&E.

I also think its better than diesel asit doesnt leave big black clouds of smoke as much :)
