Hi all

Well ive now found the problem, however am having great trouble fixing it! On the bottom of the Lucas pump there is a bolt, which I think acts as a drain to the pump. This was dripping, about one drip every 10 secs. If I undo it while te engine is idling, the engine cuts out straight away. Ive tried to tighten it as much as it will go, ive tried leather, fibre, plastic copper, steel, aluminium and rubber washers and nothing works to stop the drip. I need to get a new original bolt and copper washer. Is this from citroen, or is there somewher else I can get one from. The copper washers from Halfrauds are not thick enough, nor are the ones from B&Q.

Anyone else had this problem?

Many Thanks

Karl

Are you sure this is what is leaking? Usually Lucas pumps weep around the governor (throttle) and cold-start shafts due to perished O rings and the leaking diesel runs down the side of the pump and drips from this bolt making it look like the bolt itself is leaking when in fact it's not. This may explain why you've had trouble sealing it.

Best go see your local Diesel Specialist Karl!

They're usually a friendly bunch and will most likely let you have the necessary O rings FOC if you ask nicely and they'll give you lots of useful advice into the bargain.

I once blagged a complete Lucas pump gasket and O rig set after taking a (genuine) interest in the work they did. I must say, the whole Diesel Pump refurbishment subject is a jolly interesting one. Not a lot you can do yourself though bar repacing weeping gaskets and O rings. On the Lucas particularly, it is not a difficult job at all. Just be spotlessly clean.

There is an outfit on eBay that sell Diesel Pump seal sets for about £15. They only advertise that they do Bosch kits but they do do Lucas ones as well.

There is a nationwide chain of Lucas service depots - may be worth contacting one - I think they will be listed on a internet search.
