hole near cat.conv query

All I know is that you can fit the front pipe from the 'older' 1.9TD Xantia without the Cat onto the later 1.9TD presumeably if the 2.1TD was available at some point without a Cat... you could do the same!!!

they didn't seem keen on that idea, i was throwing obvious hints but they weren't having any of it, maybe becuase they don't wanna be blamed for something (you know how we are the blame nation nowadays, people getting sued for silly things and health and safety over the top etc), but it's ok, the cat seems ok still so i'm doin my bit for the anti-pollution people. I don't want to be going modifying it for performance as it's just a 2.1td workhorse in complete standard spec and it works well for me
(i will drive it to the ground now unless it upsets me in some way, i will tolerate suspension faults, and if the clutch goes i know someone who can do it for a good price, so as long as the head holds i will be a happy boy)
but if something else goes around the cat or it fails itself i will just take it out and weld a piece of pipe there myself
