Xantia Rear Suspension Height Adjuster

Post by foxbat »

This has probably been covered before, but at the risk of repeating a previous question can I pose the following:
Car; 1995 Xantia 1.8 16v
Problem; Rear suspension refuses to rise on engine start. Rises, albeit reluctantly, after one minute or so when cabin adjustment lever set to high.
On reselection of normal from high, front settles to normal, but rear sinks to lowest setting.
Problem came about after a long drive on a hot day, with the car having been driven along a dirt track and finally parked in a grass field.

Having previously owned an XM with a similar problem I have soaked the adjuster in WD40 twice and have left it overnight with all mechanical linkages soaking in a mineral oil.

Any suggestions please, is there anything else I should be looking at?

I also have only had experience with the XM but I believe that the Xantia has a plastic part in the linkage that breaks, maybe you have allready checked for this but a sudden change in operation would seem to point to something like it.
