Hi.
My C5 2.2 Hdi has a bypass air duct which runs in parallel to the Intercooler.
The bypass duct has a water jacket around it with a top and bottom water pipe inlet/outlet connection from the cooling system.
There doesn't seem to be any shut off flap to open and close the bypass duct. It looks like its always connected. I think its something to do with the regeneration of the particulate filter in the exhaust.
Does anyone know how it works ?

That would be either item 1 or 2 in your C5 ?
Sorry - no idea - just nosed in with a drawing to help any explanations.

Your right it is for particle filter re-generation,there are 2 vaccum operated butterfly flaps to controll which route the air takes.KevMayer wrote:Hi.

during re-gen it needs to get hot as possible so it misses out the IC.
numbers 1 & 2 are the butterfly flaps http://www.citroen-pr.net/catalogues/il ... 20A68A.gif
