Yes, thanks 8304 at first I wondered what you were refering to, & then I realised, the line you quoted me on is not an avatar, if anything it's a comment. The dictionary definition below shows the correct meaning of avatar.

Definition

avatar
noun
used in computing, an image

Same story with the Sagem coil packs.

Also from the cars date of first registration the COMM 2000 unit has a 4 year warranty.

Your looking at 30 mins labour at a main dealer to change one, You should get away with a bill for less then £200 on most of them.
Well that's good news that they have sorted the problem out.

At least the warranty covering the unit is good.

Indicator / headlamp & wiper stalk unit that also has the drivers airbag wires & steering wheel control wires built in.

A big lump of black plastic that a ZX doesnt have
The above description from PowerLee is correct.

Sorry rossnunn, we were using the correct name for the unit, although it must have come across as if we were (Comm)unicating :) in code.

Yippee ! :D

Garfield is re-active8ed !

Hi ACTIVE8, and thanks for that.

So very few people use an avatar on this forum, and with the grey background, the place lacks colour.

It would be nice if more people were to post an avatar.
It brightens up the place, and it also tells a bit about the poster.

Terry.

Colour & (Comm)unication With Avatars

Post by ACTIVE8 »

Hi Clogzz

I like your one, and it certainly has made you stand out from the crowd, so when I saw it when I first joined the forum, (a long time ago) it did help to I.D. you quickly.

I agree with you about the lack of colour, and it would be good if there were more avatars used. :D

Here are some I found.

Although looking back at the old GSF forum background & corporate colour, I find this background on The French Car Forum more pleasing to the eye, it's more subtle.

So let's see if more avatars appear I hope they do. :D

Avatars

Hi ACTIVE8,

Happy that you like my avatar, thank you. :)
When I first saw it, I thought: That’s it ! That’s the one I want !

I just saved your series of new avatars, all nice and good ones, thank you, and while doing so, I thought that there were forces from outer space at play.
Each time I saved one, it appeared in your post, as if I was tapping into your account, even though I wasn’t logged in.
Changed pages, then returned, and they were gone.

Also went looking back at GSF, and yes, the background we have here is more classy.

So now, our hopes for more avatars colouring the place. :D

Regards,
Terry.

Yes, it seems strange that they disappeared.

I have now edited that previous post so that there is one left, to save space, and so that for reference purposes it can be seen what happened, after you saved them.

I take it that you still have them. :)

It's strange that they disappeared like that, and that it appeared that you were logged in as me for a moment. Spooky

Maybe a moderator can explain why that happened.

A bit more colour, and more avatars, that would be nice. :D

It's not as if it requires too much of this to put one on.

Hi ACTIVE8,

Yes, I saved the lot and still have them, thank you. :D

Really strange, since it happened when I wasn’t even logged in. :?
I have since tried to re-create the fault, and the outcome is different now, it tries to save the whole topic as a web page.

Hope it’s as AndersImage said.

Terry.
