HEATING !!!!!!!!!

Post by KennyW »

Hi again,

This definitely the last question (hopefully) about the wiring bypass.

There is another haynes manual which covers the later Xantia's from 98 onwards does anyone have a copy and what is on the wiring diagram?

I'm just curious.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone for their help,

But on examination of the haynes manual wiring diagrams , I think a relay has been fitted to counter the problems in the MK 1's.
All I've got to do is find the relay and confirm if mine is fitted.

Does anyone out there know where the relay should be and will it be near to the heater blower in the front passenger footwell area.

KennyW.

Clocking up an unnecessary post to tell you that I don't know. :?
The original factory addition is likely to be inside the steering wheel shroud.
Home jobs like mine are often dangled inside the cover above the passenger floor.
That way, it's easier to access, and if the cigar lighter wire is used as supply, the shrouds don't have to be opened to do the job, which makes it a lot faster and easier.
Make silence around you, and listen for the clicking of the relay when turning the key to 'ignition'.

Heating blower relay

Post by KennyW »

Hi guys,

Just a quick update, been doing a lot of digging and through one of the other threads which told how to access the Citroen parts site, I have been able to find out my MK2 Xantia TD 1.9 is fitted with a relay. It is in the fuse box under the the driver's side of the dash.

Now I just need to sort the Air con out and will know if the heater blower is running correctly.

Thanks agian to all the guys who posted suggestions and other threads, great help and I will keep you all posted on progress.

Cheers,
Kenny

P.S.

Yes, :) the relay modification goes for both the aircon and the resistor-controlled interior fan motor.
The modification is in the supply of the motor, and doesn't affect the speed regulation:

Grey plug GR wire 1: 12V out on ignition and accessories.
Grey plug GR wire 2: 12V out on starting and ignition.
