XM 2.1td LUCAS pump

Post by Rostami »

Hi to all,

I am desperately in need of any kind of documentation in any language that focuses on LUCAS diesel injector pumps used on XM. I need info such as how to regulate, how to overhaul, etc.

Thanks!

The diesel roto pump is not car make/model specific. Its a standard component fitted to all Europeen cars. Either a Bosch or RotoDiesel (CAV/Lucas).

A french owner had a real enthusiastic go on overhauling such a pump, text in french language - but LOADS of pictures during the work :

XMs use several different pumps according to year and engine size. The early 2.1s are about the only ones you can do anything with as all the others are electronically controlled. The mechanical 2.1 Bosch has an easy to get at fueling adjustment, but unless you have a very well equipped workshop there is not much else you can do.

the real boys for DIY modding of injection pumps are the 4WD people. This explains why when you drive round London half seem to emit pure black smoke when they accelerate!

Seriously have a look at the Range Rover, Discovery and that sort of thing - some use lucas pumps - many though are Bosch.

Thanks to all who posted. I am having some trouble "tuning" the pump, so I decided to take it to a specialist :(
