Xantia Radio Question

Post by jgra1 »

Hi all..
I have taken the stereo out of my 94 xantia and fitted in my 99 one. The main reason is i wanted the line in from the old unit (for MP3)

I never thought ALL of the steering wheel buttons would work, but was hoping for one or two :)

The older Xantia has 7 buttons, the new style one has 8. All the plugs are the same, but there must be a slightly different set up. Now the buttons dont work and dont light up.

Should I live with this or can I cut and rejoin wires to get something to work?
I think the only difference is the very bottom plug....
if anyone has a wiring diagram of this area, for either car, that may help...

Dont have an answer for you. (Its just my way)

But the newer Xantias radios cannot go into the older Xantias as the steering wheel controls are incompatible

The signals from the buttons are encoded, and the code is probably different for the two models, I know it is on the XM. You can get replacement adaptor kits on the net for new radios, but dont know if that would help with your problem.

Digital coding ...

A standard hex (16 buttons) pad key only takes 4 wires carrying the possible codes.

Nearly 2 years ago I changed to a leather steering wheel from a Xantia Exclusive. The buttons no longer functioned. I spent half a day working out how it all worked.

My name was kered at that time. I can't seem to get kered back as I've changed my ISP and email address so I can't have my password emailed to me. javascript:emoticon('')
