Looking for BX hydraulic system schematics

Post by arnonf »

Hi all,
Please take a look at http://www.flickr.com/photos/arnonf/
I've uploaded system schematics from Citroen's "BX repair manual".
These are for "first generation" system, with a slightly different order of pipes then post 1991 models.

Does someone have the same schematics for the later version of pipes (the one where pipe B has a bulk of three pipes - not just two as in my drawing - joining from the top) ?
Mine is a power assisted steering/no ABS model.

I need both documents - the system schematics and the pipe drawings. I guess this was published by Citroen as a revision to the document I have. As files cannot be uploaded to this forum, please email to arnonf@hotmail.com .

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,

Arnon

The components has not changed - meaning you can still use the piping from the earlier schematics. The changes are mainly made to reduce manufacturing costs and to improve a bit on reliability. There are no "upgrading of performance" involved in any way.
You wont get better system functions going straight by a later circuit.

"The 3.rd leg" in the moulding on the small octopus I believe is made to avoid one of the rubber Tees under the car for return pipes. However you can plug it in together with one of the other small pipes at reservoir (using a nylon Tee) if you want. There is not supposed to be any large flow in these small hoses.

You have this document ? :

I was wondering about later changes and couldn't think of any besides the return piping changes at 5187/8 (which I think was 5th February 1992)

Curious - I was looking at the return pipes in a parts diagram the other night and thought my car had the later set but didn't bother to work out the date. its an 89 car so it must have the earlier ones - I'll have to print the diagram and have a good look!

Thanks a lot for the reply.
Yes, this is the document I was refering to. Any idea where I can download chapters 1-5 ? (I only have second and third volumes, chapters 6-15)

Apart from this change which eliminated a T-union but retained the functionality, all other pipes remain the same ?

Some other bits of the official manual are on Bob Smith's site:

There were a couple of parts manuals available for download, one from the citroenz site but the links I have don't work any longer. Maybe someone has updated links?
