hydraulic pump and crank pulley

Post by WELSHVIKING »

Hi , Ignore the other message the colours went CRAZY !!
Will be looking at a xantia hdi sx year 2000 on friday, i have been told to make sure the hydraulic pump is dry. Can anyone tell me where the pump is situated and what it actually looks like...photos if possible would be very helpful. Another member mentioned checking / listening for a crank pulley again where is it and what does it look like...any photos would be wonderful...thanks Colin

Cant help you with the pump, HDI to new for me, but the crankshaft pulley is the thing that drives the belts that run the accessories, alternator etc. If its like some previous Citroen pulleys it will have a built in rubber damper, like a small pulley then a rubber ring with a larger pulley on the outside of it, the rubber perishes and the pulley falls apart.

Hydraulic pump is driven off the auxillary belt like the alternator. If all units on that belt are dry then the hydraulic pump is as is the air con compressor!
