I tuned my 1.9TD myself. All very easy and probably directed by the same PDF as Stewart has! Also do a search on this forum as TD tuning has been discussed at lenght. It'll cost you a few hundred quid to have a company tune it for you or a day playing yourself. Results are pretty impressive and it makes one wonder why Citroen left the Xantia so badly set up.
Pug Rifter long (20) - 41mpg - Gutsy for a 1.5!
Xantia 1.9 TD Temp.2 Break (97) - 208K@42mpg - Resting again.
Berlingo Multispace 1.6 16v (51) - 184K@36mpg - My shed! Still runs 15° retarded...

Well I guess that most engines can be somehow tuned up, but manufacturers have to consider polluant emissions, average engine life, etc, and that is why there are so many engines out there with such a potential for tuning.
