The Xantia sat in the sun all day at work for nearly 7 years when I was in Sydney.
It hasn't been affected at all because it has window tinting, a rear blind, and I put a $3 reflective sun shield inside the windscreen, especially to protect the black plastic dash top.
Most of all, I left all windows open by a good full inch to let the heat out.
The problem then was to bolt out in time to close the windows when the rain started pelting down as it does there.
A roll of El Cheapo DIY window tint film should cost about $20.

I have a Xantia here for my wife ... chalk 'n' cheese, the plastic quality of the dash in the CX is the standard of the BX ... ie: digustingly bad :( The sun absolutely cremates and destroys it.

The Xantia on the other hand has very good quality interior. The sun doesn't affect it to any great extent (much like the early CX dashes, the sun doesn't hurt them either).
