Xantia Hdi 110 cam belt changed

Fuel that is more viscous than it should be would put more load on the high pressure pump, which is driven from the timing belt, hence there would be more load on the belt.

Probsably. Although it sounds like a load of rubbish to me. Considering how bad belts look at 70k miles, I wouldn't leave one on for 100k.

As I said earlier my 2001 HDi 110 cambelt was changed at 62K and to be perfectly honest it didn't look too bad at all, but there is absolutely no way I would go 100K (as my service book says) before changing a belt, its asking for trouble. In all honesty I thought I was pushing it at 62K. Dave

Ford design their belts with wide pulleys and consequently 10 years or 100k miles is realistic, achievable and OK in most cases.

But for cars that have oil leaks or badly designed systems (many Citroen engines of an earlier age) probably 50k is much safer.
