May be a strange question, but you never know ..
Does anyone know the dimension of the thread from the bolt with which the hydraulic pump is attached (lower side)? I have lost the nut. On first sight it looks like M10, but that slips when you tighten it.

If I'm not mistaken, I think this may be a one off weird size (the kind of thing only the French could think of)
We dropped one on a series one 16V but found the nut. Try as we might, we couldn't find a bolt that was a neat fit so went with an undersized one which caused dramas due to it being a difficult task to tighten and adjust the pump belt.
A couple of weeks back, we had cause to be crawling under the car and looked into this nook and cranny and lo and behold there was the bolt lodged in there. This car has done about 30,000 miles since it was lost, competed in sprints and hillclimbs and been used as a commercial vehicle. Fortunately he still had the nut and reassembled it
I don't know if this bolt is a common size on all BXs, but thought I'd mention our experiences in case you think you're going insane trying to find the right one.

On the BX you will find 7mm thread bolts quite a few places. Only place to find a 9mm thread is exactly on the HP pump lower attachment (diesels & 16V).
To my own experience you will find 7 & 9 mm taps in those cheapy Taiwan tap & die sets covering 30 sizes (or so )
BTW : These thread sizes are in no way weird. They are in fact ISO metric standard sizes. But not used that much in Commenwealth and US countries

I haven't visited the forum since a while so I missed yours reply Anders. You are absolutely right, as my wife found out when the belt broke because of a loss of tension....
I tried M10 with a nylon ring attached and that one seemed to fit. But I had to retighten the bolt every weekend...
So to solve it right I detached the bolt and it measured indeed 9 mm! But I could not find any normal store in my region that sells 9mm. A search in Google with 9 mm and 'bolt' resulted in hits for: Citroen.....
It looks like that only Citroen frequently used this size in the past. I finally bought 2 nuts at a garage specialising in restoring the Traction Avant last friday. In the TA it is used for the valve cover. These nuts were specially made for them: they couldn't buy them either.
