ZX Gearbox Drain/Filler Plug HELP

Post by citroenbx »

I would like to change the gearbox oil on my ZX-TD.I have purchased the correct TOTAL oil from GSF.
The question is which NUT does what ? I read a few posts on the subject and a few warn of the 5TH GEAR NUT this must not be removed ?
I read the HAYNES Manaul and its looks like they are talking about a totaly differnt box ?
After removing the Wheel and and Inner Plastic wing,i have a a view of the gearbox. The bit the faces me has a small 13mm bolt underneath and a 19mm bolt at the top both have copper washers on.
Is the big bolt the Filler/Lever hole and the small bolt the drain plug ?
Wheres the scarey 5th gear nut ?
Many Thanks

The filler/level plug is on the end of the gearbox. A big bolt at about 5 o'clock (imagine a clockface). The drain plug is at the back, underneath. On early boxes (BE1) there's two drain plugs, one for box, the other for the diff. Later boxes only have the one, maybe with a allen key hole in it.

Hi JohnD thanks for the reply...Well thats what the manual says too.
The is a 19mm nut at about 2 o'clock and the smaller nut is round the front of the gearbox underneath facing the road.
Could my 1995 ZX-TD be a bit different ? Are the gearbox's different ?
Cheers
