Sluggish Peugeot 406 Auto Petrol

Hi forumers,
I am new to this forum so hopefully you guys can help me out here.
I drive 406 auto ( 4HP20 ) and its very sluggish on its pick up.
Its a great drive when on top speed but when its stationery and taking off is a turn off. Any suggestions on how to improve this situation. Its a 16valve 2.0 under the hood.

Sounds similar to your plight, I would be looking at the Autobox first
