Faulty cooling fan?

Post by ed4ferrets »

I need to be on M25 in peak traffic tomorrow early and suspect BX estate cooling fan does not come on, what's the best test and or way to wire it to stay on if necessary please?

If you're moving you won't need it. The fans will do nothing useful if the car is running at more than 25 MPH or so.
Why do you think thye are not working - I've not heard mine for a year or so and the gauge shows its never got remotely hot.
If you're stuck in traffic you can always put the heater on after 10 minutes or so if you think its getting hot.
The fans are operated by a switch in the offside tank of the radiator above the bottom hose. Shorting 2 of the terminal there should put the fans on low speed - the other one fast. If the fans are on fast they will almost pull the car along they are so powerful.

More than 25 mph on the M 25? Have you been on it lately? Seriously though, all Jeremys advice is good.
