citroen xm display shows fault with rear lights
Hi I have a citroen xm 2.0i on a g plate. I have a fault on the break circuit. When i start the car the display shows me the brake light symbols but they go out when i put on the brake and re-appear when i take my foot of the pedal. I have been told it is a lost earth. I have tried to trace it but no luck. Anyone had this proplem and can help?
assuming it's the same fault as you get on the digital matrix display version where it reports bulb failed... do you find the rear lights flash in time with the indicator/hazzards when they are used?
There's a multiplug that connects to the bulb carrier - contacts get weak/drity and you get an earth fault that trips the warning display.
Simple fix, detach, clean contacts on the plug and the bulbholder, identify the earth wire and splice a ring connector to it. re-fit to the bulbholder and then bolt the new earth to one of the rear light mounting points (top one should be accessible), and you should find it works as intended.
regards
