I have heard that the new c5 is a different beast to the old one; bit like the first GS and last GSA were. My "mentor" in motoring journalism was saying that he rekoned the new C5 estate was a fantastic car. I hated the look of the original c5, but the latest one looks much better, in and out.
I may do an article comparing the C5, Xantia and BX estate, which could be interesting....

Personnaly, i don't like much the new radio fascia (same as the C6), it just doesn't fit. A bit like trying to fit a square inside a circle on a child game.
MKII C5's have better front suspension mounts. If only it could be done on the MKI...[:D]
I'll be awaiting for your article

Well I was originally thinking of pitching the C5 against its Grandad (BX) as a general article.
The only reason I bought Citroen estates (before the BX came a GSA) was because they were the best packaged estate cars available. Looking at a Volvo V70 and a Mondildo estate the C5 seems to me to be better packaged. The same applied with the Escort & even Vectra estate in BX days.
Anyone else be interested in that??!!

The estate didn't have the issue with the rear suspension 'clonking' noises, this only afflicted the hatchback. The beam axle problem caused the rear tyres to wear very unevenly accross their width. By 20,000 miles the inner quarter of my rear tyres was bald :-o, whreas the rest of the tread was unworn.
With the new axle the current rears are wearing evenly, and I reckon I'll get 50-60,000 miles out of them.
So if you buy a 2000 or 2001 model, do have a careful look at the rear tyres.

Depreciation really is the killer so if you buy one that's done the lion's share your in.
I like the ride, space, performance and looks.
All my tyres went bald on the outside with 5mm tread left on the inside after changing wearing backs to front. Wrote to Citroen who referred me to the dealer I bought it from who says it's normal. Going back to Citroen to ask for second opinion somewhere else.
