As far as the vibration is concerned, has the car been standing still for a while?
If it has it might be due to the tyres developing a flat spot due to standing.
My Xantia suffers this as I only drive it about once a fortnight, but the vibration soon wears off after a few miles as the tyres regain their shape.

Have to agree both my Xants have had oval tyres, had tyres rebalanced many times both had the same vibe 65-70 very irritating, my local indie tyre (highly respected in the trade) place took the time to set up a guage and the back tyres were very badly out of true even though they had a fair bit of tread left, apparently Xant's are very succeptable to going wobbly doesn't know why though.
