Among the oddities of the BX 4x4 is the siting of the rear spheres. If I remember correctly were resited so as to screw in vertically from underneath. This may have been a consequence of having to accomodate a rear differential. I think the 4x4 parts are shown on the BX PDF that should be found as a link from the hints and tips section.

The rear spheres were resited because the rear drive shafts (?) are just behind the end of the suspension cylinders. You can see all that on the picture of my Ex-4WD:

As Yangreen said, get a 2CV. You will need time to adjust but when you do you will love it, and as stated even a standard one with the right tyres is quite good off road :-)
Cheap to run, cheap to fix and infinitly fixable and whats more more fun than a box of frogs!!

Riding a 2CV really is fun (my wife has one...), but did you ever try to pull a 1.5 ton horse trailer over a wet pasture with a 2CV ? The 4WD (with Diesel engine) did that very well ! Sometimes you need more than a 2CV...

Agree that sometimes you do need more than a 2CV, but mainly I've always found that in those cases one of these will do the trick...........GSA PAllas, CX 25GTi Turbo, CX 22 Familiale, BX 16v, BX 17RD, H-van, Acadiane, Dyane, Motorcycle. :-)
