Works well in some continetal countries (the covert bit, not the pistol whipping!)
SPEED HUMPS

We've recently had a lot of roadworks going on, and something else I notice is that the roadcrews now block the entire road, often for no good reason, instead of just closing one side. That would be all very well if there were an alternative, but almost all of the side-roads have massive ramps. Is this acceptable, in view of the lack of a satisfactory detour which all vehicles can be expected to negotiate? I say no.
