During a bored moment at the w/end, made up a header tank to assist when next refilling my non bleed point equipped BX TD. Even used on cars with bleed points a header tank is a good way to get coolant in and not air.
I used an old rad cap (new cap first point of call when I got the car) and removed the spring etc. I then used a hole borer on my drill to make a hole the size of the threaded part of the 2l lemonade bottle which is the "tank", the threaded part of the bottle was screwed through the hole in the cap, and then the bottle cap was refitted and a hole bored though it. The result is very secure.

Blimey - you've fixed it so well, no more tinkering. Wanna come and change the clutch in my Xantia....[8D]
Trust this will be available at our local GSFs in a couple of weeks... surely Citroen charge about £20 for the header tank, so you out to make a healthy profit at a tenner a pop[:p]

Yes its true, I didn't do any work on the BX at the weekend! I didn't even lift the bonnet! I was going to clean it but it was raining so I hid in the garage and looked for things to make instead.
The fact that we were looking after my 2 small nieces in addition to our own 2 girls for the w/end had nothing to do with hiding in the garage, honest.[;)]

You're starting to exhibit classic BX-owner syndrome, Jon. You find something BX-related to think or do even when you can't/don't choose to/don't need to work on the car itself....
Nifty bit of improvisation there. I never seem to have the right-sized O-ring on hand to make a good seal on the cut-off drinks bottle neck.
