Bx Steering problems?

Unread post by TurnerDv1 »

I wonder if any one can help, ive got a bx 16 valve mk2 and when i was driving down the motorway the car steered to the left and right for a brief secon, also when u go over speed bumps it pulls to the right ther list below are things ive done to it to try and solve it.
1/ front spheres replaced
2/ track rod ends fitted
3/ lower ball joints fitted
could it be the track control arm bushes? since ive replaced nearly everything else

If i understood your problem well i will try to answer it:
If any of front suspension hitches would be waern out, you could hear and feel it very well.
Usually it is steering column problem.
Peace:)

The first two things I'd be checking would be the lower control arm bushes and the hardidisc. The latter being a circular semi flexible disc that sits on the steering shaft below the floor, drivers side, and immediately above the steering box and effectively connects the steering wheel to the pinion in the steering box. They have been known to fail with dire consequences.
Wear in the lower control arm bushes should be detected by jacking the wheel off the ground & putting pressure on the outer portion using a big screwdriver or small pinch bar. With either of these problems, the car could have a tendency to follow the camber of the road. In the case of the hardidisc, the steering also tends to wander.
