I had the same problem on my xantia fitted radio, it turned out to be a bad connection between the aerial plug earthing and the radio. A good cleaning with emery paper round the outer sleeve of the plug cured the problem. If you earth the casing of your radio with a lead from a known good earthing point, and the interference lessens, then its definitely an aerial coax. lead fault. Check the braiding has'nt broken where its connected to the actual plug. These faults are usually caused by bad earth braiding connection at the aerial end or if your lucky like me at the radio end. Very seldom in the middle of the lead.

there is also a supressor on the coil small square black ceramic unit connected to one of the coil wires. also check that the earth straps are in good condition on the bonnet hinges.
