c15d brakes

Post by stephen burch »

I have excessive travel when applying the brakes on my c15d. The discs, pads, front flexi pipes and shoes have been replaced. I have allowed for "bedding in" and the shoes have been re-adjusted. The whole system has been bled and there are no leaks in any pipes or joints. The brake compensator seems to be working and the vacuum pump and pipes are in good order. There is however a hissing noise coming from the master cylinder/servo area when the pedal is pressed. Does anyone have any ideas please as the van will fail the MOT as it is.

From what you are saying it sounds like that there may be a problem with the servo unit itself (not uncommon). Another potential cause of this fault is the servo valve, the part where the vacuum pipe joins onto the servo.

Thanks Jon. I shall try the servo valve first and if faulty replace it. This sounds the cheaper way of doing things and will hopefully cure the problem.
