After starting my BX following a 16 month rest for the car, it revs to around 5000rpm, or should I say idles at 5000rpm.
checked the tps,aav,pressure reg,afs.
any idea's will be gladly taken.

I had a similar experience with my 16V.
Turned out to be the outer accelerator cable which had popped out of its holder at the point where it comes out through the firewall; scarey stuff! <img src=icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle> Sure brings the neighbours out to see what you're doing hey!! Makes you feel like a <img src=icon_smile_clown.gif border=0 align=middle>
Just pull it out & wriggle & you'll find with a bit of fiddling, it'll go back in place. Mine dropped out when I revves it at the intake plenum.

well thanks for all the suggestions but after all that we have solved the problem. When we checked the Throttle positition Switch it only clicked well past any point of adjustment. This kept bugging us so we decided to have a closer inspection of the throttle only to find that the primary throttle flap was slightly open and siezed.
Now the car is back to A1 condition and looking for a good home.
