We have not been afflicted by the Steering Rack failure but both of our X7 models are conventional suspension.
Could LDS be causing the failures with the X7 racks? I know earlier models were not affected, but is it possible that the seals in the earlier racks were designed for LDS? Later racks were they designed for Power Steering fluid? Or are they mixing them up when fitting?
Of the Steering rack Failures how many have Hydractive?

Re: C5 (X7) Component Failures /Faults / Replacements Poll
No, because metallically sprung X7s also use LDS for models with the electric power steering system, they just have a smaller reservoir. There is no other 'power steering fluid' they all use exclusively LDS or 'Fluide DA' which is the same thing. The rack part numbers can be the same for Hydraulic / non hydraulic suspension.
The High / Low pressure pipes are different though.

Re: C5 (X7) Component Failures /Faults / Replacements Poll
It is a 100% design fault eg, the angle and the hollow the seal sits in (plus material choice/lack of rust protection on the shaft)howardaskew wrote: ↑24 Feb 2024, 23:05 We have not been afflicted by the Steering Rack failure but both of our X7 models are conventional suspension.
