2014 C4 GP Adding Carplay & speaker upgrade.

Hi.
I'm new around here but love my C4 Grand Picasso so will be back for sure. Over the last year my speakers have given up one by one and I now just have the dashboard tweeters so it's time to replace/upgrade.
My car's VIN number is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] and as far as I know (please correct me if I'm wrong) the sound system is the same regardless of trim level, - No amp, 2x dashboard mounted tweeters, 2x front door speakers and 2x rear door speakers.
My intention overall is to upgrade all of these, and maybe add a amp and subwoofer, but to start with I've just had a EBILAEN CarPlay/Android module and a JBL component speaker set arrive. It's quite hard finding out any details about what fits a C4, if it was ever supplied with an amp or not, what wattage the head unit provides and the speaker wire colours etc.
So if anyone's done anything similar I'd love to hear how you got on, where you mounted the crossovers etc or if there are any wiring diagrams for the ICE, or specs for the Smeg head unit that would be great. Many thanks.

No. that's not correct. There are different Head Units depending on specification / option, so they are not all the same. In your case you have the SMEG Analogue Touchscreen, without Sat Nav, without equaliser Amp, (which could be specified as an upgrade) on order.

A word of caution here. These units are heavily integrated into the vehicle's system and electronic architecture, so if you chose to use an aftermarket system, be prepared to expect issues.

Its interesting to know that it was also available with an amp, would this make fitting an aftermarket one easier at all?

The equaliser amp system was an option on some specifications and included additional / uprated speakers / enhanced controls via the head unit and a deep tone loudspeaker in the boot area. The SEMG unit would also be a different version.

I'd forget all that though as it would be a bespoke system designed for the vehicle.

If you are contemplating an android replacement you'll have to check compatibility / correct type of amp for the head unit you are installing.

I only support bespoke systems here, not aftermarket addons, but there are a few who have upgraded with Android units here. Getting the correct CAN interface is critical though.

Thanks Marc, the EBILAEN unit is designed to run alongside the SMEG unit, with a press of the navigation button flicking back to the factory options. But you're right, I don't want to bugger my car up so I'm sticking to the door speakers and dash mounted tweeters for now. Do you happen to know if there's a factory fitted crossover as standard, or do they just rely on the capacitor on the tweeters to filter out the low frequencies and send the same signal to both pairs of speakers?

I can't tell you as Citroen don't provide details of the internals of their equipment.

No worries, I hooked up a 3-way to the tweeter wiring so I can now say that no, they don't have a factory fitted crossover
Would you happen to know if I could get something like this,

but for the 2nd Gen C4GP?
I've got red / purple wiring to my NS door speaker and I'm unsure which is the positive?

I'm also looking into my SMEG unit specs, but keep getting Smeg ovens when I search!
Is there a model number or code I could use while searching?

As for wiring, focus on wiring codes printed every so often on the wiring insulation and not on the colours as they change on PSA vehicles.

Thanks Marc. My JBL 609s are being worn in as we speak and I'll see about adding the new tweeters and crossovers when I attempt to fit the android unit.
