BX TZD interior lamp delay

Post by PeterC »

Hi,
Can anyone tell me where to find the interior lamp delay circuit box? on my TZD please. The lamp doesn't work when the doors are opened and it's not the door switches. The lamp does work when manually switched.
Thanks.

From memory (which is poor, as I last did this job in 1992!), you have to remove the glovebox assembly. At the back of it, you will find the timer unit. If you are lucky, the multiblock may have fallen off it, if not, you will need to replace the unit.

Thanks Jon and sorry for the delay in replying, it took me two years to ask the question and 6 weeks to act on the reply. I located the timer unit ok, got it on the bench in a test harness only to find it performed perfectly. Fault traced to the partially disconnected (yellow) earth mutiblock connector on the left hand side of the steering column. This also earths the clock which may account for the intermittent display I also had.

As they always say "A minor electrical problem becomes a major headache"!
Glad that you managed to fix it at last
