Hello... I think you can replace... but as it was said earlier you will lose all the display functionalities of the climate\trip\audio\telf\source... the 6 buttons left of the radio... ;)

Hi everyone!

First of all, sorry for may bad english.

I have a Citroen C5 with the same radio as claire have. I know that I cannot replace it, but if I go to a service, to "knock out" the car's CD changer, I will be able to use this item in my car, or not?

Thank you for your help! :)

Hi and welcome to the Forum :-D
I've had a look at the kit and although it doesn't seem it is still on sale here in the U.K., it does seem that this will work with the RD4 C5 from 2005 on.

Yes, you just need to ensure that you have the CD Changer option activated by your Citroën Dealer or by somebody you know who has a Lexia3. This kit should allow you to keep all your functions as they are, including the use of the steering wheel controls.

You will need to plug the CD connector cable from the APPS2CAR unit into the part marked 'C' in the picture:

Marc,

thanks for answering my question in the thread I opened.
if I may Id like to pick up from here?
I seem to have the CD changer cradle underneath my drivers seat
which has a lead taped to the bottom of the tray, could this already be plugged into the back of the stereo?
if so I could probably buy an adapter and use the cradle to house it to keep it all tidy.

cheers.

Nigel.

I've sourced the PDF for the Yatour model - that looks the same Nigel - have a squiz and see if you think this would be suitable - the PDF in the link shows the wiring. I suppose it would depend on whether the lead under the passenger seat will mate with the interface...

Marc,

I think perhaps if I can find a Bluetooth adapter that uses the aux in or the CD changer connection
I may be able to listen to dab stations from my phone and or take calls through the head unit.
Ill pull the head unit soon and see what connectors are on the back, I understand that the Aux in
may have to be activated. it might even be worth drilling a hole and putting in a 3.5mm socket to
enable a range of devices to be plugged into the Aux facility of the head unit.

Thanks again.

regards.

While this unit is NOT right for your C5, I wonder is something along these lines might help? It would allow you to have a memory card fitted, or a USB MP3 player hooked up;

The reason I am aware of it is that my C5 Mk1 will support it.

One thing to be aware of is that you will have no control of anything much more than the volume using the AUX socket. It really isn't suitable for very much. I used mine for connecting A/V equipment like a camcorder for playback. There is no track selection or anything else.

Units like the Yatour usually already have Bluetooth in them along with MMC / SD cards and USB interfaces. The unit then provides the interface between the phone and other kit and the head unit allowing existing remote steering wheel controls to be maintained. Get one that uses the CD Changer port, as the AUX does not have the same funtionality.

Marc,

I checked the Yatour and it says only suitable for the C5 up until the year 2005.

thanks anyway will have to keep looking.

cheers Nigel.

That is fine Nigel - they haven't got a clue about the models - they mean the Mark II facelift versions - it's not compatible with the 2001 to early 2004 Mark I, but is fine to the 2007 versions - i.e. before the Mark III X7.

oh ok Marc, blimey its a minefield, with some more thought about it
and trying to keep it in as original spec as possible, Have you any ideas on which cd changer would be the correct model
to look for / for my car please? ive got a little standalone blue tooth gadget for the phone now which sticks to the windscreen.
but I'd like to fill the void beneath the seat if at all possible and having the ability to record mp3s onto cds in wave files with my pc
filling a cd changer shouldn't be to much of a problem the recorded disks play well on the RD4 head unit already.

thanks again.

regards.

Yes, I'll have a look for you Nigel - you cannot fit any CD-Changer - it has to be a compatible unit that works with the C5's specific multiplexed system. There are a couple of models. Give me a minute to look them up....

Ok, you need this Clarion Model for your C5 Nigel - Part Number 9663425180. There's a few on the bay here for just over £30:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw= ... 0&_sacat=0

As the fitting for this is there - it MAY already be activated - it not, the Lexia will be needed to connect to the Head Unit ECU and tell it that it is there.
