Radio Codes

Post by MeridianMan »

Hello one and all,

having recently purchased a second hand 2003 C5 estate, and also having read a lot of comments about changing headlamp bulbs I am a little concerned about doing this even with a Haines Manual to assist. Mostly because advice given is to dis-connect the battery. I am reluctant to do this as I can find no reference to any radio codes anywhere among all the paperwork and manuals.
Does this car in fact have any radio codes, and if so, where would I find them,

Many thanks in advance.
Ian.

Hello and welcome Ian :welc:

There are no radio codes for the C5 - the radio is matched to the VIN.
If you replace the radio you need to tell the car with a Lexia diagnostic computer - may seem daunting but many members own them and will help other members, usually for a small consideration.

However, just disconnecting the battery won't affect the radio other than you generally lose the stations and have to re-tune it.

Are you aware of the procedure required to safely disconnect and re-connect C5 batteries?

Haynes tell you disconnect the battery all time. Its advice I generally ignore. Ignoring Haynes would be advice i'd give, but they are good for standing a coffee cup on rather than a cold floor or surface

Hello and thanks you for the messages and welcome,

I am unaware that there is a procedure for dis-connection of the battery, once again all manuals and books that came with the car make no mention of this. So far I have had no real problems with this car which is the 2.2 diesel and has covered 143,000 miles but came with a full service history from new. One thing really amazed me was the amount of miles before changing the timing belt, Citroen say it will, under normal circumstances, last for 100.000 miles. This one was changed at 90k so still has some time before renewal again.

Once again with thanks,
Ian

Would have thought you could change a headlight bulb without battery disconnection, so long as the lights are switched off.
Unless someone knows different...

Yes not a problem with.normal bulbs, but not with Xenons, given the high voltage on the igniters.

Battery disconnection/re-connection procedure.

The service intervals are rather generous and do depend on the way the car is used.
Most of us reduce the time/distance by about ⅓.
