Site reconfigured to use secure (https://) browsing protocols
[update]
The site is now in secure mode again.
[/update]
I have upgraded this site to use SSL encryption on all locally hosted content. This means that data flowing between your browser and this site (in both directions) is encrypted and cannot (in normal circumstances) be eaves-dropped.
On the front page and other pages you should see the secure padlock symbol in your browser.
Most browsers will warn of "mixed content" on many pages, due to off-site hosting of images and avatars which are hosted on sites not providing SSL. We have no direct control over this, but it does not represent any threat.
Some browsers may automatically block some of this external "insecure" content, but it should be possible to configure browsers not to block.

Since this change I cannot log on, see anything posted or post anything on my phone or tablet via tapatalk. It's very frustrating.

The Tapatalk API has been reconfigured, but it apparently takes some hours for the Tapatalk server to refresh its cache and start using the new configuration.

A very smooth changeover for me. I hadn't even noticed until I saw your post.

It's still showing as https in my browser. Have you re-reverted? Or what?xantia_v6 wrote:The site is now reverted to its previous configuration due to issues with some browsers blocking "mixed" content.

I disabled the redirection to https earlier, but left the https server running. I have now set up redirection back to the http site for forum traffic.

Re: Site reconfigured to use secure (https://) browsing protocols
We have made some more changes to the site configuration and https:// secure protocols should now be correctly supported on all browsers.
Please send me a PM, or reply here if you notice any issues that appear to be related to this change, or if you see any pages on the forum which don't have the secure padlock symbol next to the address bar.

Morning Mike.
I'm having speed issues now. Fcf pages are taking 20seconds to a minute to load up.
The rest of the internet is plodding along at its normal speed.

I am not seeing anything that slow.elma wrote:Morning Mike.

Give the site a few hours to settle down. I think that the issue is due to the secure proxy server which is re-processing previously insecure images. This should improve a bit as images get cached.
In any case, the proxy server currently in use is only temporary, I should have the real one configured in a day or two (and it should be faster).

Thanks Mike, it has indeed reverted to normal speed.

I have now fixed the Tapatalk emoji issue, it was not a bug, but an obscure configuration setting that required changing.

I despair. And you might now wonder why I now hate IT with a passion and why it stresses me so badly. There's your answerxantia_v6 wrote:I have now fixed the Tapatalk emoji issue, it was not a bug, but an obscure configuration setting that required changing.
Mike, I'm both delighted and most thankful you're on the case... I'd have lost the will to live long before now. You must be made of stern stuff
