I'm intending going a bit slower on the M74 than I did the last time I was on it! I haven't decided if I shall take the A66 and A1 or keep on the M6. I expect the former. I will have a self imposed speed limit of 70mph. That's through the towns and villages though [emoji13] [emoji23] [emoji23]

I still don't know which way to go! M6/Toll that direction is quicker according to maps, and given i'm leaving about 7am ish on sunday I doubt i'll bump into anyone!daviemck2006 wrote:I'm intending going a bit slower on the M74 than I did the last time I was on it! I actually went Edinburgh and A1 all the way. I wish I hadn't, I dislike the A1 intensely between Edinburgh and Newcastle. It's very slow and quite a bit longer. Never again! Spent hours sitting g at 30 mph or less [emoji37] The road is [emoji90] and there were lots of hold ups with roadworks. I shall see you guys in the morning.

If you fancy an adventure on the way back you could always try the A68 and pause for reflection at the best border crossing high up at Carter Bar, and gaze out over the dramatic vista of your homeland laid out before you. Much shorter, and no traffic jams until you reach the City Bypass at Edinburgh.daviemck2006 wrote:I actually went Edinburgh and A1 all the way. Probably same-ish time, but you are moving all the time. I would normally take the first exit after Scotch Corner at Piercebridge (B6275 but a very straight B road non the less) and "cut the corner off" before joining the A68, but the main A68 turnoff is only a few miles further on from Scotch Corner. Personally I would never use the A66 to go across country and up the west side to get to Scotland.

Re: CCC National Rally 8-10 July 2016 (Citroens plus the odd Pug even!)
I think it was the 68 I went up last time. I would have to look at a map to see. Not when I fetched the car home, gut going home from weatherby. I went past my aunt and uncle, they stay in Crook, county Durham. Those roads would be good activa territory, and it wouldn't surprise me if my car has seen some of them having lived in the north east with Chris for 5 years!

I didn't manage to get there due to a minor family crisis involving my mother (89 on Monday!). All sorted now, sometimes mothers have to come first!

Was that you talking to Ben about centreless wheels and looked at those on my silver C5?wurlycorner wrote:Right, much later than planned, I'm about to blast up there. Should be there about half 1.

..nice vert, but undoubtedly the paint colour has a more exotic name than that, so I tried to find out.myglaren wrote:This was the star of the show.

In 1964 Panhard on the 24, only offered one "green" namely "Vert Lumina" which is a much lighter green than that on the car in the picture. Can't find a Panhard 24 or any other vehicle in that colour as an example, but its very light. If you do a seacrh on Panhard 24 Vert Lumina, this is the closest you get
Could well be correct as the 24CL in 1964 did come in Vert Lumina/Gris Sylver
Citroen offered a Vert Tilleul (lime green) in 1964, but not quite the right shade
But the closest colour to me looks like Vert Muscinee available from 1970
