I second this very strongly. Excellent words James

Sadly I'll miss it for the first time in years, I'm working even though I'll be just back from holiday.

Not long to go now! Really looking forward to the Northern this year, from what I've heard, it's going to be a good event.

I will be tootling down on Friday in the 205. I'm not eventing to ever be travelling at much above 60 to 65 mph so it will take a few hours! I'm undecided if I will camp or b&b. I suspect the latter as I would have to buy a tent and all the associated paraphernalia that goes with it, and I don't know how my buggered back will put up with a cold camp bed!

Have fun, everybody. I would love to get to one Rally this year, but as my weekends are Tuesday/Wednesday (I work Saturday/Sunday) this is unlikely (unless I manage one during a holiday).

I have decided to go b&b. I know it's more expensive, but after a long drive on Friday, I will need a decent shower and bed. Also a good brekkie, hopefully, will mean I won't go hungry too much during the day. It's been chucking rain the last couple of days, I was going to hoover and wash and polish both cars, but I haven't bene able to. So whatever car I come down with won't be particularly clean. I'm still unsure which car I will take, the heart is saying the 205, the head saying the 107. I would think the 107 will use less petrol, and I won't worry about it breaking, the 205 would be more comfy, but I would worry about its noisy gearbox/diff being up to a 300+ mile run. I wouldn't want it to go bang and end up on the back of an AA truck.

What time are you thinking of setting off tomorrow, Davie? I take it you'll just go straight down the A1?

I'm aiming to leave between 11 and 12 tomorrow morning. The Activa has just been given a once over, oil, LHM and antifreeze are all at the correct levels, tyres are checked, and after it was detailed the other day it's sitting sparkling on the driveway :)

Just need to throw my tent, sleeping bag and some pillows in it tomorrow and all is go!

I've not long finished packing up the 205. It played silly bugger today, threw off the alternator drive belt, I had a spare, but then the bottom bolt on the alternator snapped. Needed a bit heat and vice grips on the stump got it out, so it's all fixed, water and oil checked. I hope to leave about 9 ish. I usually go m74, m6, a66, time and time again I have found it about an hour quicker than the A1. If I do go the A1 I either go right through Edinburgh City centre, or through Leith, very rarely use the Edinburgh bypass.

Damn! That's me missing another Citroen Rally. :( This time I have the excuse of a 6 week old to be looking after though.

I really need to make an effort to get to the next one. I'm still yet to go to a Citroen Rally in 7 years of being in the UK!
