Hello from Aberdeen and a soon-to-be Xantia owner!

Tell us a little about yourself, lie if you have to but keep it to just an introduction, not a car discussion.

Hello from Aberdeen and a soon-to-be Xantia owner!

Post by Supernaut »

Hi,

People from the brown forum may recognise me, but to the rest of you - hello!

I've put a deposit down on a Xantia SX 2.0 HDi in Preston, and I'm picking it up on Saturday.

Yes, I'm mental. I have form for doing this sort of thing.

I will post a thread in the relevant section soon enough. All I know so far is that it has 77k on the clocks, an MOT until next April and good history. Also a hole in the driver's seat! I may just whack in some front seats from a Peugeot 306 if I find some in the scrappy though.

Welcome Supernaut.
If you have the time and the inclination there is a Citroen rally just outside Wetherby, if that could be construed as being on your way home.

Just looked at Google maps... West Yorkshire isn't really on my way between Lancashire and Aberdeen! :D

Hello Supernaut. I'm driving from 45 miles north of Aberdeen to Wetherby this weekend just to go to the rally! I have form for buying cars unseen and getting trains or buses to collect them! I think I've bought about 9 or 10 this way now. Twice I have bought something that has gone on to break within weeks of buying it, costing me more than expected, but to be honest both times it was something that gave absolutely no warning and could not be predicted. Both were Citroens, the first a c2 sensodrive that broke it's electronics controlling the gearbox and cost more than the car to fix, the second my xantia activa which broke it's clutch, and is in the process of getting fixed. I hope your xantia is trouble free for you.

Well, I work in IT specialising in networking, so... yeah. The avatar works.

daviemck2006, I'm planning to go along to the How Many Left show at Alford on Sunday, so my plan is to drive all the way back up on Saturday. Picking the car up late morning though, so should be easily doable barring any catastrophies! I did at least get a friend who stays locally to have a look over it and give it a quick test drive first though. :D

That's the kind of shows I should go to, but I have made some good friends on here, so that's why I like to go to the northern or tha national every year. I get a weekend away and talk cars. Good for me!
