CCC National Rally 8-10 July 2016 (Citroens plus the odd Pug even!)

Post by citroenesque »

CCC NATIONAL RALLY - 8-10th July 2016
This is being carefully planned to have added ‘appeal’ like a larger ‘Chevrons Rally’ plus. Details will be forthcoming...
We are throwing it open to any Citroen-based 'specials' like Lomax etc. But also - if you have a Panhard, interesting Peugeot 'classic' or even a Simca :) PLEASE come along!

Keep those dates free please; Let's Make It A Success! :)

Venue: Abbots Ripton Village Hall, near Huntingdon
(Yes, we are aware it’s still in a similar area to previous rallies; but limited time to source, availability, suitability and cost were all factors - 2017 will see a big change in that ;) )

Join the closed CCC group on FB if you haven’t already and check out the Events section.
The address of the CCC Page is:https://www.facebook.com/groups/100130886699197

True to my word earlier in the year (although that may not have been posted on THIS forum) that I would give CCC events another chance next year, I intend to be there. However, I am still puzzled why everyone (the national classic press included) thought "Chevrons", as pleasant a distraction as it was, was soooooh wonderful.

Must just be that other events I regularly attend have more cars, traders, catering facilities, etc, etc & so have unrealistically high expectations.

The Chevrons was as much a relief as anything, after hasty planning by a bunch who'd not done it before and certainly doesn't represent something of which we would rest on our laurels. It was a success in that the feedback was good and there was a relatively decent turnout. It was good to meet up with old friends... It had a nice comfortable, clubby feel. If you didn't get that then maybe your expectations were a little high?

More cars? We always want more cars and hopefully next time there will be but there will certainly be more at the National. As for traders and catering facilities etc. likewise....

I think one has to stop looking back at single marque events of the past and think it's going to be as quite as glorious these days. People don't tend to turn up in such numbers as they used to at these niche car rallies even 6 years ago. Catering is a case in point: it's now so expensive for small gatherings! And the potential for loss is great. Maybe you could get onto the CCC FB page for instance and participate in discussions about the various events listed there? All help gratefully received!

Nice of you to 'give us another chance'... we don't get paid to do this you know ;)

PS Re: Chevrons Rally: I am reminded of the fact that there were actually over 100 cars in attendance at the Rally's peak on the Sunday.

I didn't really know what to expect, this being my 1st year as a CCC member, so knew very few Citroen people (outside 2CVGB) but had done 100's of miles trying to even find other major meetings/rallies.

"nice comfortable, clubby feel" certainly! sums it up nicely BUT I've never suggested it wasn't enjoyable - & I'm sure the pleasure to be derived is directly proportional to the number of people one knows. On that basis alone, I will enjoy next year's "Chevrons" more & I now have high hopes for the next National (whereas after the last fiasco - all right, disappointment - I was seriously wondering whether I would be renewing my membership).
Oh, I can only speak for the Saturday - as I was at another event on the Sunday!

More information: And prices! Just £10 per car for a weekend pass (£20, one car and camping)... now, that IS good value.

No excuses, now: come along and make it work :)

PS Find me a sharp pic of a sinker or Ph.1 at that angle against a white or pale background at a high enough resolution and I will get one done and printed :)
