Xsara number plate light
It can't be that hard can it....? Tried to change a bulb in my Sister's car today, but can't get the cover off the light. Haynes says pop the cover off with an appropriate screwdriver. Service.citroen shows a different type of lamp with a screw in it! This has two small holes either end of the lens - which looks like it ought to relase the cover, but despite a good poking it wouldn't let go. What am I missing?

Re: Xsara number plate light
Is it at all similar to the Xantia ones Richard? I often find those awkward and it seems to help to use two small screwdrivers - on in each slot- and gently pry both together...
Try a dash of WD-40 around the edge of the lens to help it slide out...

Thanks Jim - it's different to the Xantia unit (See here: http://tinyurl.com/cyl959f) Found some info that suggetss the clip is released by pushing away from the light unit with a sharp object. Will try again tomorrow on the Picasso - which also has a suspect light!

Indeed that this the method - new bulb fitted to the Picasso. Getting the cover back on is tricky though...you need to ease the edge of the cover out to get the clip to re-engage - I've managed to crack the Picasso's one, but it seems secure enough

1, two fingers on the top of the lens.
2, One or two thumbs on the underneath of the lens
3, lever away from the top, and it should come away to give you bulb access.
4, I forgot to say, squeeze the top of the lens before you lever it away.

Re: Xsara number plate light
Tail gate open - remove plastic inspection flap - access number plate light
units left and right - push out holding sides of unit outwards - then outside -
snap of wire connector fitment just a push on pull off fit - take off clear plastic lens -
to remove spade flat 5 w bulb and replace with a new bulb - retrace steps - fit unit back - test --
eazy peazy 2 minutes .

Re: Xsara number plate light
Old thread, but just in case anyone stumbles upon this thread trying to find out how to change a Xsara numberplate bulb, I did one of mine not long ago. The handbook is useless at it shows a screw next to the lamp which simply doesn't exist. The lamp is held at either side by a plastic lug. I used a flat screwdriver and slid it behind the lamp at one side which allowed me to pull that side out of the tailgate. then repeated on the other side. Once off the car getting to the bulb is a lot easier.
Here is a picture shamelessly nicked off the web to show the locating lugs.
