Re: Forum Upgrade and Move on 1st October *Complete*
Actually I've just seen a pop up appear on the forum.
Accessing it with Safari on an iPad it popped up a modal dialogue saying something about tapatalk being available for this forum and did I want to open it in tapatalk instead...didn't think quickly enough to take a screen shot before closing it.
That must be what DickieG was talking about.

I believe that pop-up is normal on Tapatalk-enabled forums Simon.. I've seen it on others but not on the BXC or FCF and I can't recall I've seen it using Firefox under Linux..
But then again I have the pop-up blocker on...

That's the thing Simon plus the other Tapatalk pop up that has always been there whenever I view the forum on my iPhone, iPad or other (useless) tablet. I'm also left wondering why the forum is advertising Tapatalk, does it get funding from them?Mandrake wrote:I suspect he may be talking about the annoying ad banner that comes across at the top of every page on the forum in Safari on an iPad/iPhone with a button to take you to the Tapatalk app in the App store... They look like this:CitroJim wrote:Tapatalk on my Windows Phone, the free version of Tapatalk, is also completely clear of pop-ups and any other extraneous matter..DickieG wrote:Friggin Tapatalk is now worse than ever with countless pop up's, is there any way of getting rid of this pointless spam clutter from my own devices as its driving me round this twist.
Must be your phone Richard. Are you still using an Apple offering?
In fact it work better than my expectations for it...

In my case after I closed them a few times with the small x in the top left of the banner it stopped appearing...(I think this gets remembered as a preference in your forum profile or as a cookie)

Nope, not a sausage...DickieG wrote:I'm also left wondering why the forum is advertising Tapatalk, does it get funding from them?
Tapatalk is simply a 'bolt-on' to the standard forum software. It's free and as far as I can see has no adware anywhere in it.
As I say, I've seen nothing of these pop-ups at all. Either on my phone or on my PCs...

Richard, try the BX Club forum (http://www.bxclub.co.uk/forum" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and see if you get the same result. I installed Tapatalk on there as part of the upgrade..

That's not good Ben. I can see now why it's so objectionable..
Is this just confined to Apple IOS or is Android the same?
Just tried Tapatalk on my Windows Phone again and no problem at all..

I believe the last one is an iOS exclusive with something like this: https://developer.apple.com/library/ios ... nners.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;CitroJim wrote:That's not good Ben. I can see now why it's so objectionable..

but don't see why the others wouldn't work on an android.

Question. All you being nagged by tapatalk... Do you have the app installed? Is this just prompts (albeit quite stern ones) to get you to do so?
If you do install and then make use of the app does the nagging stop?
If you haven't installed it, Do so and give it a go. It's not a bad app at all...

I have it installed already and the notifications appear... to be honest if you use tapatalk then there's not really much reason to visit the forum in a browser on the phone at least.CitroJim wrote:Question. I've just looked at the forum via my tablet which operates on Android and get exactly the same nonsense.CitroJim wrote:That's not good Ben. I can see now why it's so objectionable..

As for installing it well personally when something has been as irritating as Tapatalk I struggle with the mere thought of doing such a thing!
